Settings Basics

Kanbanoo persists settings in several places:

Most settings are board-specific, i.e. they apply only to a specific workflow.
You can save vault-wide settings that apply anywere in the vault by default, we call these the Vault Defaults [1].
You can override the vault defaults with view-specific, so-called Common Board settings.
Finally, there is a small number of settings that every user can choose for themselves. Currently only minimizing columns is a user-specific setting.

Virtual Folders

Please note that virtual folders (sometimes called property folders) do not have their own settings — they inherit settings from their parent view. This means that all virtual folders of a given view share the same settings, mimicking the behaviour of the M-Files client.
If you want to customize Kanbanoo settings for only one specific virtual folder you have to convert the virtual folder to a M-Files view as follows:
In the M-Files client (i.e. outside Kanbanoo), right-click on the virtual folder and select Customize Folder. Enter that view by double-clicking it, then start Kanbanoo and change settings as desired.

Saving Settings

If you have changed a setting most of the time you need to explicitly save that setting for it to apply to future sessions (and other users) — this behaviour mimics that of the M-Files client. If you have unsaved settings a star will appear next to the board name.

To save settings, right-click on the board's title bar to open the board context menu and select one of the two options:

Save As Common Board Settings for This View - will apply the settings only on the current view and override the vault-wide defaults.

Save As Default Board Settings for All Views — as the name says, this will apply to all views, except those that have their own view-specific settings.

All actions except minimize and expanding a column require the Manage Common Views role and will apply to all users of the board.

Minimizing and expanding a column is a user and view-specific setting that will be saved automatically.

Resetting Settings

If you have customized a board with view-specific settings or have user-specific settings and want to revert to defaults do this:

Right-click on the board's title bar to open its context menu and select Reset Settings to Defaults, then choose one of the two options:

To delete user-specific settings, choose Reset to View Defaults.

To delete view-specific settings, choose Reset to Vault Defaults.

[1] Vault-wide Defaults have been introduced in Kanbanoo v2.8.4. Prior to that all settings were view-specific.
